Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to have a better understanding of basic knowledge to properly maintain and perform repairs on the Perkins 1706J engine and will be able to perform the following tasks: • Explain engine nomenclature. • Identify the engine specifications. • Find necessary technical documentation located on the Perkins customer secured website. • Identify and explain the function of the major components of the engine systems. • Identify the components and explain the operation of the air system. • Identify the components and explain operation of the fuel system. • Identify the components and explain the operation of cooling system. • Identify the components and explain the operation of engine electronics system. • Identify the components and explain the operation of aftertreatment/DOC/DPF/DEF/SCR systems • Demonstrate the ability to connect, interpret results, and run tests within EST. • Identify routine maintenance items.
